Newly inaugurated U.S. President Donald Trump returned to speak in Nevada on Saturday for the first time since a November appearance while on the election campaign trail.
The returning President Trump visited Circa Las Vegas to speak to his core fan base in the Silver State. They helped him turn the state Republican red after decades of voting Democratic in presidential elections.
He spent a relatively tight 40 minutes discussing various plans for his upcoming four-year term in front of an appreciative audience. He mainly focused on his economic policies, including his plan to end the federal taxes on tips.
He also gave a shout-out to some of his close friends and allies in Nevada who were in attendance, including Nevada governor Joe Lombardo, UFC-head Dana White, streamers Adin Ross and the Nelk Boys, and Las Vegas casino magnate Phil Ruffin.
The Speech
Trump spent a good portion of his allotted time discussing his policy to cut the federal tax on tips. He started by relaying the story of when he decided to promote the idea after speaking with a waitress at his Trump Las Vegas property.
“I’m sure you haven’t heard,” joked Trump, standing in front of a massive sign that read, “No Taxes on Tips.”
“But we’re gonna get it for you, no tax on tips. No tax on tips. If you’re any kind of worker who relies on tips for income, your tips will be 100% yours. A few months from now, we’re going to deliver on that, it’s gonna be something very special for you, it’s gonna make a big difference. We’re going to have a lot of support in Congress and we’ll get that passed.”
He also talked about the large flurry of executive orders he has signed since taking office a week ago. That included taking the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization, and rolling back Biden administration actions on green energy.
“We got rid of the woke, the woke crap, we’ve done more work on day one than some administrations do in four years,” Trump said.
The President also took time to praise downtown casino resort Circa Las Vegas and its owner, Derek Stevens. Some saw Circa as a surprise venue pick for Trump’s first return to Nevada as President, considering he owns Trump Las Vegas and Stevens isn’t exactly his most well-known Sin City business connection.
“Great place by the way. I just met the owner, he’s a nice man. He’s rich, too, very rich,” Trump said of Stevens.
