UFC 300 Betting Preview

UFC 300 is here, and as you would expect with such a milestone, the lineup for Saturday night is stacked. There are two title fights on the card, but the best fights might not be the ones with a belt at stake. It’s a night of great fighters matching up for the best fights money can buy.

Main Event: Alex Pereira (-130) vs. Jamahal Hill (+110)

This is a light heavyweight title fight, as Alex Pereira puts his belt on the line against Jamahal Hill, himself a former champion.

We’re still only two and a half years removed from Pereira’s UFC debut, and as fighters on the rise go, he is as unique as they come. But Hill is 12-1, and 6-1 in his UFC career, and he will provide quite the test.

This is the last fight of the night, and it will be worth the wait.

Co-Main Event: Zhang Weili (-485) vs. Yan Xiaonan (+370)

Zhang Weili defends her strawweight title against Yan Xiaonan in the first all-Chinese championship fight in the history of the UFC.

In the end, it probably won’t be much of a fight, and Zhang is clearly the better fighter. She’s 34, this is her second reign as the champion, and she is one of the top women to ever come through the UFC. Yan is a solid fighter, and at one point in her UFC career, she won six bouts in a row.

They are both good athletes. But Zhang is the heavy favorite for a reason.

Main Card

Justin Gaethje (-162) vs. Max Holloway (+136)

No official belt is on the line, but this is the designated “BMF Title” fight. Go ahead and google BMF if you don’t know what it stands for. Spoiler: the BMF belt is awarded to the ‘baddest’ fighter in the UFC, and has been contested only twice since its inauguration in 2019.

As Justin Gaethje says, “There’s no doubt this is going to be the best fight of the night.” And we agree. You’ve got two of the most consistently good fighters, and two styles that match up perfectly. Gaethje vs. Max Holloway should be a five-round slugfest between two very popular fighters.

Charles Oliveira (+185) vs. Arman Tsarukyan (-225)

No title is at stake here, but the chance to be the next challenger in the lightweight division is up for grabs. Charles Oliveira is a former champ who wants another shot at the title, but Arman Tsarukyan presents a tough roadblock.

Oliveira is 12-1 over his last six years, with 11 of those wins coming by stoppage. Tsarukyan is coming off a first-round knockout just one minute into his fight with Benell Dariush, and he is the favorite to move past Oliveira in the championship pecking order.

Bo Nickal (-1600) vs. Cody Brundage (+900)

Bo Nickal was a three-time national champion wrestler at Penn State, and in his first year in the UFC, he is 2-0, with two first-round stoppages. Prior to that, he was 3-0 in the Contender Series.

Nickal is proving to be one of the bright young stars of the middleweight division, and he is the heavy favorite to stop Cody Brundage, who is 4-4 in his eight UFC starts.

Prelim Matches

Jiri Prochazka (-105) vs. Aleksandar Rakic (-115)

Jiri Prochazka is a former light heavyweight champion, and he fights Aleksandar Rakic, who returns to the Octagon for the first time since he took a TKO in May of 2022. He suffered a knee injury in that fight.

Calvin Kattar (+145) vs. Aljamain Sterling (-175)

Aljamain Sterling makes his featherweight debut on Saturday against Calvin Kattar. Sterling lost his last time out, but prior to that he won nine straight. Kattar has lost two of his last three matches.

Holly Holm (+340) vs. Kayla Harrison (-440)

Holly Holm is a former champ who first won the title eight years ago. She’s still good, but Kayla Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo, and in mixed martial arts she is 16-1.

Sodiq Yusuff (+120) vs. Diego Lopes (-142)

Sodiq Yusuff comes with the Contender Series, while Diego Lopes began his MMA career in his native Brazil. Since joining the UFC a year ago, Lopes is 2-1.

Jalin Turner (-238) vs. Renato Moicano (+195)

The winner here will establish themselves as a top-10 fighter in the lightweight division, and because of the stakes, expect the action to be fierce. Jalin Turner is 7-4 in the UFC, Renato Moicano is 10-5 in the UFC.

Jessica Andrade (-142) vs. Marina Rodriguez (+120)

It’s an all-Brazilian battle in the strawweight division. Jessica Andrade fought five times in 2023, going 2-3. This is her first fight of 2024. Marina Rodriguez lost two of her previous three fights.

Bobby Green (-185) vs. Jim Miller (+154)

Jim Miller was around to fight in UFC 100 (a win) and UFC 200 (a win), so naturally, he is back for UFC 300. He’s now 40, but he can still bring it. He just won by submission in January. Bobby Green is also a seasoned vet at age 37, making his UFC debut in 2013. His last fight was a knockout loss to Jalin Turner.

Deiveson Figueiredo (-305) vs. Cody Garbrandt (+245)

Former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is set to make his second bantamweight start. He won the first time out in December. Cody Garbrandt started strong in his UFC career, winning his first six fights. But since then, he is just 3-5.
