Super Bowl LIX: Proposition Bets for Pass Receivers

There have been 50 players with at least 100 yards receiving in a Super Bowl. No. 50 all-time is Corey Clement of the Philadelphia Eagles, who finished with exactly 100 yards in the Eagles win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. No. 1 all-time is Jerry Rice, who caught 11 passes for 215 yards when the San Francisco 49ers beat the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII.

Oddsmakers do not think Rice’s record is in any kind of jeopardy. Neither is the record for most receptions in a game, held by James White with 14 in the Patriots comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. But there are still plenty of pass-catchers in this game worth a potential wager.

Pass-Catcher Receiving Yards

No one on the Kansas City Chiefs crossed the 1,000-yards receiving threshold this season. The strength of their passing attack is that everyone gets involved, and there is no standout, even with Travis Kelce still playing at an elite level. Eight different Chiefs caught at least 200 yards worth of passes this season, led by Kelce’s 823 yards.

His over/under for the Super Bowl is a team-high 61.5 yards, which is down from the opening line of 64.5. In eight regular season games this year and one playoff game, he went for 65 yards or more.

Xavier Worthy is second on the Chiefs with 638 yards receiving this season, and his receiving yards line for Sunday is 54.5. That’s gone up a yard from the 53.5 opening line. Hollywood Brown is at 41.5 yards for Sunday’s game, following his 35 yards in the AFC Championship Game. JuJu Smith-Schuster went for 60 yards in the AFCCG, but his line for the Super Bowl is just 13.5.

DeAndre Hopkins has only been targeted three times in the playoffs, and his Super Bowl receiving yards line is 10.5.

Leading the way for the Eagles is A.J. Brown, with an over/under of 70.5 yards. He went for 96 yards in the NFC Championship, and during the regular season, he had 71 or more yards in eight of his 14 games played.

DeVonta Smith opened at 48.5 yards, and that is now up to 50.5. He went for at least 51 yards in nine of his 13 games played. In the Wild Card Round, he had 55 yards against the Green Bay Packers. Tight end Dallas Goedert opened at 46.5 yards, and he is now up to 51.5.

Pass-Catcher Receptions

Eight different Chiefs caught at least 20 passes this season, and 11 Chiefs made it into double-digits. But when it comes to Super Bowl catches, Travis Kelce leads all pass-catchers in the game with a line of 6.5 receptions. His longest reception of the game has an over/under of 19.5 yards.

Also for the Chiefs, Worthy has a receptions over/under of 5.5, and a longest catch line of 21.5 yards. Hollywood Brown has a receptions line of 3.5 and an over/under on his longest reception of 18.5. Smith-Schuster, Hopkins, and tight end Noah Gray all have reception lines of 1.5 catches.

A.J. Brown is expected to be the focus of the Eagles passing offense, and his over/under for receptions is 5.5. The over/under on his longest reception is 24.5 yards. Goedert is at 4.5 receptions and a long reception of 19.5. Smith is also at 4.5 receptions and a long reception of 20.5 yards.

Pass-Catcher Touchdowns

Travis Kelce has 20 career postseason touchdowns and two career Super Bowl touchdowns. He is paying +145 to score in Super Bowl LIX. Worthy scored a team-high nine touchdowns in the regular season, one more in the playoffs, and he is +165 to score on Sunday.

Hollywood Brown is +280 to get into the end zone. Smith-Schuster is paying +475, and Hopkins pays +500 if he scores a touchdown.

A.J. Brown for the Eagles is +170 to score a touchdown on Sunday. Including the playoffs, he has eight touchdowns this season in eight different games. Smith is +240 to score in the Super Bowl, which would be his ninth touchdown of the year. Goedert, who scored in the Wild Card Round and twice in the regular season, is +290 to score in the Super Bowl.
