San Francisco 49ers: Betting on the 2024 Season

The Brandon Aiyuk-San Francisco 49ers standoff appears to be nearing a resolution. NBC Sports Bay Area reports that the 49ers have two potential and acceptable trades in place with the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots, and now all that’s left is for Aiyuk to negotiate a contract with one of them.

Aiyuk’s agent was given permission to talk contracts with potential suitors, and reportedly the deals that were discussed were going to pay the four-year NFL wide receiver $28 million per season. With four receivers now making more than $30 million per season, that price makes sense for Aiyuk. He’s 26-years-old, he’s gone over 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons, and last season he finished with 1,342 yards.

San Francisco Postseason Odds

Even without Aiyuk, the 49ers are loaded. They are heavy favorites to return to the playoffs, paying -525, and they are the favorites to once again win the NFC West. That bet pays -195.

The 49ers are +250 to return to the Super Bowl as the NFC champion, and they are +600 to win their first Lombardi Trophy in 30 years. A bet on the 49ers to make the Super Bowl but lose it pays +550.

Following the NFL’s schedule release in May, the 49ers were made the favorites in all 17 of their regular season games

Offensive Award Odds

For the 2024 season, Brock Purdy is making less money than backups Skylar Thompson, Jake Browning, and Bailey Zappe. When it comes to MVP odds, he is favored over huge money quarterbacks like Justin Herbert, Kirk Cousins, Trevor Lawrence, and Tua Tagovailoa. Purdy is paying +1600 to win the MVP, which ties him with Aaron Rodgers.

Christian McCaffrery is +4000 to win the MVP award, but he’s one of the favorites to win Offensive Player of the Year, which he did last season. He’s +750 to become the first repeat winner of the award since Marshall Faulk in 2001.

Deebo Samuel is +5000 to win Offensive Player of the Year, with tight end George Kittle paying +15000.

The 49ers used the 31st pick in the draft to select wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, and an Aiyuk trade is expected to push up his playing time and season targets. Pearsall is +6000 to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Purdy is +2500 to lead the NFL in passing yards, McCaffrey is +275 to lead the NFL in rushing yards, and the 49ers are +500 to lead the NFL in points scored in the regular season. That has them as the favorites, just ahead of the Detroit Lions.

Defensive Award Odds

The Niners used their second pick and the 64th pick overall to select Florida State cornerback Renardo Green. He’s at +10000 to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. With pick No. 124, San Francisco added Wake Forest safety Malik Mustapha, and he is +12000 to win DROY.

The 49ers have the more decorated of the two Bosa brothers, and Nick Bosa is +700 to win Defensive Player of the Year. That has him tied for third on the list with Maxx Crosby, and only trailing T.J. Watt and Micah Parsons. The over/under on sacks for Bosa in the 2024/25 regular season is 12.25. He is +900 to lead the NFL in sacks.

Fred Warner is a three-time First-Team All-Pro and he is at +4000 to win DPOY. Warner had a combined 132 tackles last season, and he is +2500 to lead the NFL in tackles this season.

Cornerback Charvarius Ward is +15000 to win Defensive Player of the Year. Last season, he had five interceptions and led the NFL with 23 passes defended.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan is +3500 to win Coach of the Year, which ties for him 22nd on the odds board.
