‘Monday Night Football’ Betting Preview: New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers

New York Giants co-owner John Mara has a little Pittsburgh Steelers envy. His team has been trying to find the right head coach since Tom Coughlin left in 2015. So to add a little stability to the picture, he told head coach Brian Daboll last week his job was safe.

“Obviously, we’re all very disappointed with where we are right now. But I’m going to say one thing, we are not making any changes this season, and I do not anticipate making any changes in the off-season, either.”

Mike Tomlin was hired by the Steelers in 2007. Since 2007, there have been 133 other NFL head coaches, including six Giants head coaches.

Game Line: Steelers (-6)

With the Baltimore Ravens loss on Sunday, a win by the 5-2 Steelers puts them into sole possession of first place in the NFC North. It would also give them a three-game lead in the win column over the third-place Cincinnati Bengals.

All of the divisions in the AFC are becoming one-horse races, except the North. So wins over teams you should beat become even more important.

The Giants are a 2-5, last-place team, and even with a win, they will remain in last place. The Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles are turning the NFC East into a two-horse race, and the Giants are being left behind. But even if a win doesn’t make the Giants a playoff team, a primetime win would be nice. With Daniel Jones as the starting quarterback, New York is 1-14 when playing under the lights.

Pittsburgh is 2-1 against the spread (ATS) at home this season, and the Giants are 2-1 ATS on the road.

Quarterback Proposition Bets

The Steelers were more than pleased with the performance of Russell Wilson last week, and he is now the starter going forward. The over/under on passing yards for Wilson is 200.5 for Monday, and if he gets up to 250 yards, he pays +330. If he throws for at least two touchdowns, Wilson pays +165.

The line on touchdown passes for Daniel Jones is 0.5, with the over paying -165. If Jones gets to two touchdown passes, he pays +370. The over/under on passing yards for Jones is 187.5. Jones is the more mobile of the two quarterbacks, and his over/under on rushing yards is 25.5. Two weeks ago against the Cincinnati Bengals, he rushed for a season-high 56 yards.

Running Back Proposition Bets

There is no single featured back in the Giants offense that is expected to carry the load. Devin Singletary has the highest over/under line on rushing yards at 30.5. There are no other New York running backs on the board.

For Pittsburgh, Najee Harris is RB1, and his over/under on rushing yards is 62.5.  Jaylen Warren is the change-of-pace back for the Steelers, and his line is 30.5 rushing yards.

Harris is +105 to score a touchdown, Warren is +205, and Singletary is paying +300 if he scores a touchdown.

Pass Catcher Proposition Bets

Less than two months into his career, Malik Nabers might already be the best wide receiver on the field. Even with missing two games, he has four games this season of at least 66 yards, and two games of more than 100 yards. It makes his line of 65.5 receiving yards feel very low.

Wan’Dale Robinson has an over/under of 36.5 receiving yards, and Darius Slayton is at 25.5 yards.

For the Steelers, George Pickens has an over/under of 60.5 receiving yards. Last week against the New York Jets, he caught five passes for 111 yards.

Tight end Pat Freiermuth has a line of 29.5, one week after he broke 50 yards. Van Jefferson has an over/under of 18.5 yards, which is the same as Calvin Austin III.

The top touchdown scorers from the group are Pickens at +145, Nabers at +185, Freiermuth at +280, Robinson at +390, and Jefferson is paying +400.
