FanDuel Casino announced this week it has awarded the lucky winner of its $1 million summer sweepstakes prize.
Any FanDuel casino player who opted in and wagered $50 on casino slots between June 1 and August 1 received a ticket into the draw. FanDuel’s U.S. online casino is available in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Connecticut.
The winner turned out to be Agostino Limongelli, 62, of New Jersey. He beat an enormous amount of players to be named the lucky ticket holder.
Online slots streamer Vegas Matt, who is the main content provider for FanDuel’s YouTube channel, gave Limongelli a video call to announce the news.
“With over 100,000 customers in the running for the grand prize, we are so excited to finally share our FanDuel Casino $1M Jackpot Summer Sweepstakes winner,” said Daniele Phillips, VP of brand strategy at FanDuel Casino.
“Making a player a millionaire is an honor for our team. We love seeing our players’ engagement and excitement with our promotions. Congratulations to Agostino!”
The Casino
FanDuel is one of the two leading national U.S. sportsbooks, alongside DraftKings. Both operators are now moving into the online casino space in the states where it has been legalized.
This, of course, means doing headline big money jackpot stunts like this to drum up attention and customers. Which worked, because we’re writing about it.
“My heart is racing, my heart is beating out of my head, I wanna do so much. I wanna go on vacation, I wanna buy a car, I wanna do all those sorts of things in the next five minutes,” Limongelli said when Vegas Matt told him he was the million dollar winner.
“Thank you so much FanDuel, this is outrageous!”
As well as a million dollars here, the casino offers several other rewards programs and jackpot slot games that also hit million dollar heights. Its sportsbook also offers half a dozen other, similar level prize pots throughout each year.
On the other hand, we also cover less positive news for operators, such as the fact that FanDuel was this year fined by New Jersey gambling regulators.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement took action in January after FanDuel accepted dozens of wagers on an MMA fight that had already concluded a week earlier. The sportsbook was fined $2,000 and ordered to settle $230,000 with bettors, who placed a combined total of $190,000 on the matchup.
