$1M Lottery Ticket Wedding Gift for Virginia Couple

A Virginia man hit a $1 million winning lottery ticket shortly after his son’s wedding, and decided to hand it over to the happy couple.

Aaron and Kiana Andrews recently tied the knot, and the $1 million gift made for a sweet icing on the cake. Mr. Andrews’ father purchased the Cash4Life ticket from PJ’s Neighborhood Variety Store in Triangle, Virginia.

The Andrews had been planning to move into Aaron’s father’s basement while they saved up for a house deposit. But that plan has now been iced, as the couple are now millionaires. The prize was $1,000 a week life, or $1 million lump sum. The couple took the latter option.

“I have a great father who has done nothing but look out for me!” Aaron said, speaking to the Virginia Lottery.

The Ticket

Aaron’s father, who chose to remain unnamed, is an avid lottery player from Triangle, Virginia, around 35 miles south of the Washington, D.C., area.

The Andrews were living around 20 miles away in Springfield, Virginia, at the time the ticket was bought.

The father only realized he was a million-dollar winner two days after the draw, when he drove past the store and saw a sign saying they had sold a big winning ticket. He got to his destination, then checked his ticket to find out he had won, and then immediately phoned his son to tell him it was his.

The winning numbers were 25-35-36-41-59, and the Cash Ball number was 2.

The Winners

Aaron and Kiana spoke to Fox5 D.C. this week, where they revealed that Kiana took some convincing to believe her father in law had actually won and wasn’t just joking.

“Once I got off the phone with him, I called her and let her know. And she really didn’t believe it,” Aaron said.

However, once they established it was all real, they understood just how much the senior Andrews had done for them.

The couple plan to set up a college fund for future children, and move into a new house.

“He just wants to set us up for success, and his future grandkids up for success as well. I’m very thankful for him, and thankful for the fact he played the lottery,” the lucky son said.
